Goals and Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will have a working knowledge of definitions, characteristics, and symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder, know how these children learn, ways to provide a nurturing environment for children with autism spectrum disorder in an inclusive classroom, strategies to help children with autism learn life skills, behavior management, communication skills, play skills, and social interaction skills as well as strategies to help children with sensory integration disorder. The student will also know ways to establish a positive, mutually supportive relationship with families of children with autism spectrum disorder.
