Description

FHELT is an introduction to child care for a family child care home provider. This course provides new and or future childcare professionals with the knowledge needed to provide quality care for young children while helping each individule child develop to his or her full potential. The course contains information and learning activities that stress the importance of the caregiver and of child care work.

Goals and Objectives

1. The participant will understand the purpose of Family Child Care Home Entry Level Training (FHELT).
2. Participant will appreciate why child care is important
3. Understand the importance of licensing in Oklahoma
4. Aquire knowledge of appropriate work habits and understand the characteristics of quality child care programs.
5. Know how to maintain appropriate job relationships and how those relationships affect an individual's career development.
6. Understand the goals of guidance for young children
7. Gain knowledge of "best practice" for young children.
8. Provide appropriate care for the special needs child
9.Promote good health and nutrition
10. Recognize the signs of abuse and neglect ; gain knowledge of reporting procedures, and confidentiality issues.
11. Conduct safety drills( fire, torrnado, and evacuation
